Class Descriptions
Yoga Flow
A class where poses flow gently from one to the other in conjunction with
the breath. Class sequence is interspersed with static postures to address flexibility,
strength and balance. Focus is on proper alignment in each pose. This class is suitable for beginners.
Slow Flow
A slower paced class that spends more time in each posture exploring comfort and alignment that's best for you. Gently stretches and strengthens while finding inner balance and peace one breath at a time. Perfect for beginners!
Balanced Body
A true balance of effort and surrender form the thoughts that we hold in our head to the tension we hold in our body. We start with creating heat in the body by warming up muscles then move toward postures that promote strength and stability and finally, move into the cooler Yin practice where postures are held seated or lying down with mindful awareness of breath promoting flexibility.
Mindful Meditation, Movement and Restorative Yoga
Get totally unplugged! In this class we will explore the accessible method of meditation called “mindfulness”. We will discuss how to implement mindful practices in our everyday lives. Then, with awareness to breath and body, we will gently stretch our bodies and prepare for the ultimate bliss-restorative yoga. Please see description below for Restorative Yoga. This class is 75 minutes long
Restorative Yoga
Yoga bliss!!! This calming
class starts
with gentle stretching to
encourage joint range of motion and a lengthening of muscles. Then, using
blocks, blankets, and/or straps, the head, limbs and body are supported in
relaxing poses cultivating a release of muscle tension and fostering deep
relaxation of body and mind. In this therapeutic yoga practice, the body
and the mind are nurtured, leaving the student feeling nourished and at peace.
This practice is perfect for new students, those seeking stress relief or those
with low back issues, pain, fibromyalgia. Also ideal for anyone who wants
a gentle, relaxing practice. This class is 60 minutes.
Fluid Power
A more challenging version of the Yoga Flow class. We flow from asana to asana with the rhythm of the breath. Heat is created and the body begins to open and muscles lengthen. Great for building endurance and strength. Poses are held longer and some advanced poses are explored. Self-awareness is a constant theme in this class. A great adjunct for those involved in sports or athletic training. Guaranteed to stretch, strengthen, and create more flexibility in body and mind. Not recommended for beginners. A yoga practice of at least 6 months or consent of the instructor is recommended for those attending this class.
Beginner Yoga
The perfect place to start if you are new to yoga or want a slower paced practice. This class focuses on the fundamentals of yoga; the importance of breathing, basic yoga postures, relaxation methods and stretches to enhance everyday living.
Gentle Yoga Stretch
This class will incorporate a combination of gentle yoga stretch, breath work and restorative postures. This is a perfect class for those who want balance between creating joint mobility, muscle lengthening and finding that place of total relaxation in a slower paced class. Appropriate for all levels of practitioners.
Teen Yoga
The teen years can be one of the most exciting times in life, yet it can also be one of the most stressful. Teens today face numerous challenges and many don't have the tools to deal with these challenges. This class will incorporate relaxation strategies, mindfulness meditation techniques and yoga to assist teens in building self-confidence, self-awareness, flexibility, and balance as well as inner and outer strength.
Kids Yoga
Through the use of art, music, stories and yoga, kids learn what it means to be flexible, strong, courageous and calm; inside and out. Who would have thought that learning self-respect, concentration, self-control, body awareness, mental and physical strength would be so much fun!
ZUMBA!
Easy to follow steps... spicy music... fat melting cardio workout-that's
ZUMBA! Connect with your inner dancer! Learn the rhythms of Salsa, Merengue,
Cumbia, Calypso just to name a few. Routines incorporate interval training and
easy to follow dance moves that utilize fast and slow rhythms to create a
fitness program that tones and sculpts the body. Zumba will make you want to
"ditch the workout and join the party"! You don't need dance experience to have
fun with Zumba. If you can walk and breathe, you can do Zumba!! This class is
suitable for all fitness levels. Please call Richelle for more info at 414
248-9107.
Chair Yoga
A gentle, slower paced yoga class designed for those who are not able
to get up
and down off the floor. Students
participate in a yoga practice either seated in the chair or using the chair
as a prop. Ideal for those with neurological issues such as MS, Parkinson’s or
those with limited mobility or balance.
Core Fusion-Fit and FUNctional
This class has had many names over the past seven years; Yogalates, Body Sculpt, and Yoga Fusion. But despite the change in name, the incredible format has remained the same. Core Fusion is a dynamic blend of yoga, dance, core work, and body toning exercises using light hand weights, exercise bands and other fun props. You will leave feeling taller, leaner, more flexible and totally invigorated. Totally kicks abs!
Reiki
Reiki is Japanese energy work that promotes relaxation, stress reduction and healing, triggering the body's natural healing abilities. During a Reiki session, the client is fully clothed while reclining on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner gently places her hands at various points on or above the body, opening channels of energy and restoring balance where it is needed. Other healing modalities are incorporated into sessions such as use of aromatherapy, facial massage, muscle release, and gentle stretching if the client desires. Clients experience a serene relaxation and feelings of well being following a Reiki session.
Private Sessions
Private sessions are a wonderful way to enhance your body/mind experience whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner. Many students have found this a great way to prepare for participation in a group class especially when dealing with specific physical limitations. Private sessions for adults or children are structured to meet the needs of the client. This can include breath work, stress reduction/relaxation, alignment, strength, core stability and therapeutic yoga for individuals with specific health needs.
